Drag and Drop activities are an excellent way to determine if your class has achieved recognition about specific learning objectives.
In order to create a Drag and Drop activity you need to place an object in the work area then add an identifying object. For this instance we will identify some states. Three states are brought from the Gallery and added to the work area. Using the Text creating tool the names of the states are added to the work area. The Line tool is used to place lines next to each state so that there is a place to drag and drop the word. When finished placing the objects you can align them using the alignment tool so they look straight and clean. You can also lock the first objects and the lines so that they cannot be moved. Locking the identifying object defeats the purpose of drag and drop. Make sure you switch to the Cursor tool from the Smart Toolbar, then using your finger you can move the states names to the line corresponding with the state. Press the center of the name it then can be moved anywhere on the screen. It only stops moving when you release your finger.
Any kind of object can be used for drag and drop. A lesson with all text or one with all objects works as well.
Infinite Cloner
As explained before the Infinite Cloner is a great way to reproduce an object over and over again so that it can be used to fill in answers. For this example we are going to look at a math lesson. Using the Text tool we create the math problems, leaving the space after the equal sign open. Then you must create the row of answers at the bottom. You must create each individual number in the answer row as a separate object then chose Infinite Cone from the drop down box. Creating them all as one object will make the whole row clone and not each individual number. Remember to use the Alignment tool to make them straight.
Then using your finger select the number that best fits the answer and drag the number to the answer spot. When you release your finger you will find that the number is now by the = sign and also at the bottom amongst the other answer choices.
This is also a great tool for other lessons such as music. Using nothing but Gallery objects you can create a lesson where students can drag and drop music notes to a music staff.
Searching the catalog under music will give you a large selection of staffs and dozens of notes. The staffs are listed under Notebook pages so once placed they cannot be moved like other objects. The notes are listed as picture objects and can be. Place everything on the screen then set the notes to Infinite Cloner.
Drag and drop the cloned pictures to their place on the staff. There are numerous different ways you can use the Infinite Cloner to create lessons.
